FCC Members' Information
Mission Statement
FCC provides a friendly, inclusive, social and educational environment for members to pursue and nurture their interest in photography. The Club is affiliated to the KCPA.
Club affiliations
The club is affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain [PAGB] through the Kent County Photographic Association [KCPA]. We follow their guidelines and many lecturers and judges are obtained through them.
Membership
Membership is fully inclusive, regardless of photographic experience or knowledge on payment of an annual subscription to be set each year at the AGM. Currently, this is £32 per year inclusive of refreshments.
Meetings
The Club meets weekly every Monday at St Georges Church, Audley Road, Folkestone 7.30 – 10.30 p.m for a nine-month season from September to May as per the programme.
Programme: The Committee shall arrange and organise a varied programme of lectures, presentations and competitions, as well as Practical Evenings and Audio Visual Group meetings and informal outings.
Inter Club Activities
FCC will compete against other clubs in 'Battles' held both at home and away. A Selection Committee, appointed by the Committee from the membership, will choose the images to enter in external competitions.
Distinctions
The Club supports and encourages members to work toward achieving photographic distinctions offered by the RPS(Royal Photographic Society), PAGB (Photographic Alliance of Great Britain) and BPE (British Photographic Exhibitions) and FIAP (The International Federation of Photographic Art)
Website
The Club's website is open for all to view but is administered by the Committee. Cumulative competition results are published following each competition. The website provides the main source of information for club members. Links are available to the KCPA and PAGB for information about external exhibitions and competitions. This is supported by verbal and written notices displayed at club meetings for those without web access.
Competitions
a) Only fully paid up members may enter club competitions.
Entries must be received by the date published in the programme.
The content of images submitted to all competitions must be entirely
the original work of the photographer. Third party images, or part
images, whether authorised or not, are not permitted.
One entry per member per competition
Members may only enter an image once in any competition*
Each season will include the following Club competitions for members to compete against each other 6 Print (Open Group 1 and 2) and 6 PDI (Open Group 1 and 2) 6 Creative PDI and Mono PDI (no Grouping). The following : Prints Group 1, Open PDI Group 1 and MONO are the competitions which count towards the Challenge Cup and Prints Group 2, Open PDI Group 2 and Mono which count towards the Champion Cups awarded at the end of the season.
Each competition will be judged by an invited outside judge who will appraise, critique and mark images with points out of 20.
The scores for each member will be recorded by the Competition Secretaries and published on the Club's website. Highest scoring members are awarded trophies or certificates at the end of the season.
Open competitions are divided into groups –
Group1 (advanced workers)
Group 2 (beginners/intermediate) - and members may decide at the beginning of each season which group to enter.
b) Having decided which group to enter each member must keep to that group for all competitions throughout that entire season.
Print Competitions
a) All prints entered into Club competitions must be mounted and the mount must be 500mm x 400mm.
The title, member's name and group entered must be indicated on the rear of all entries.
Digitally Projected Image (DPI) Competitions
a) Digital files must conform to JPEG format maximum 1620 pixels wide and 1080 pixels high.
File size between 30 kbs and 1mb to be titled e.g. MORNING by Joe Bloggs.
b) Images should be uploaded via www.folkestonecameraclub.co.uk following on screen instructions.

The following additional competitions may be held throughout the season:
- Portraits – images of living people in print and pdi format. Animal portraits are not acceptable. Up to 3 images in both Print and PDI.
- Landscape – print showing an extensive area of land. Maximum 3 images per entrant.
- Anyscape – print of a city/sky/urban/sea scape. Maximum 3 images per entrant.
- Themed Subject – subject to be announced at the beginning of the season. Maximum 3 images per entrant.
- Panel of Images – cohesive panel of five images.
- Member's Presentation with commentary- 15 pdi, 12 minutes
- Audio Visual Competition - sequences up to a maximum of 10 minutes.
- Annual Print Competition – best of the previous season's competition prints, number to be advised usually 3
- Annual DPI Competition - best of the previous season's dpi competition images, number to be advised.
- Folkestone Salon- Quirky, artistic, creative PDI's. Maximum 3 images per entrant.
* Members may enter one image in each section. No image may be entered in more than one section whether as a print or digital image. An image accepted by the competition secretary for a previous competition is not eligible. For the purpose of these rules the committee reserves the right to consider an image to be the same as one already used if, regardless of title or medium, it is so similar to the other as to be almost identical.

The business of the club is managed by a Committee comprising officers and additional members elected each year at the Annual General Meeting held in May.
Officers of the Committee are: Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary, Press Officer, Programme Secretary, Competition Secretaries for both Print and DPI competitions and Projectionist.
A Quorum of the Committee shall consist of the Chairman (or Vice Chairman) and not less than half the members thereof.
An ex-officio President is elected every 5Years by the Committee to guide, support and advise.
Officers of the Committee will present reports, including externally audited accounts, to the membership at the AGM.
The Club's Financial Year runs from 1 May – 30 April inc.
Proposals for consideration by the membership at the AGM may be submitted, in writing, to the Secretary by 20th April.
An Extraordinary General Meeting may be called by not less than 10 members, or the Committee and due notice of 4 weeks shall be given to the Membership.
Membership is fully inclusive, regardless of photographic experience or knowledge on payment of an annual subscription to be set each year at the AGM.
The Committee shall have power to admit members to 'Honorary Life Membership'.
The annual subscription must be paid before a member may enter competitions.
The Club meets weekly every Monday at St Georges Church, Audley Road, Folkestone from 7.30 – 10.30 p.m for a nine-month season from September to May.
The Committee organises a varied programme of lectures, presentations and competitions and by majority vote has the power to amend the programme at their discretion without recourse to the members.
The Committee has the power to expell any member whose conduct they consider detrimental to the best interests of the Club.
The Committee has the power to approve the purchase of any single item for Club use up to £750. Purchases over this amount must be approved by AGM or EGM.
The Club operates a bank account. Cheques and other instruments will be signed by the Treasurer and one of two other nominated signatories.
The Club shall retain sufficient funds in reserve to cover its liabilities for one season.
Dissolution of the Club. The decision to wind up the club can only be taken at a Extraordinary General Meeting or an Annual General Meeting of the Club. After discharging the debts and liabilities of the Club, the remaining assets are to be given or transferred to a voluntary organisation or charity having similar objectives to those of the Club.
