Meetings

Weekly meetings are held in the St Georges Church, Audley Road, Folkestone. The hall is compact and modern and ideal for meetings and discussions as well as providing us with the opportunity to display prints and project slides on to a large screen. A Practical/Beginners night is held on six additional evenings per season at the hall of the United Reformed Church, Castle Hill Ave. Folkestone.

The club season starts in mid-September and continues until May the following year, ending with a Dinner and Awards Night. A yearly programme is issued to each member detailing the planned events that are held each Monday evening starting at 7.45pm. Several outings are arranged to provide members with the opportunity to practice their photographic skills whilst enjoying a day out in the countryside or even abroad! To boost funds we encourage members, when buying on the internet, to connect through the club site to earn money from affiliate sites.

Throughout the season well known speakers are invited to give demonstrations and talks onphotography related subjects A wide range of lectures are provided to assist both the beginner and the advanced workers.

We arrange inter-member competitions for members to display their prints and digital images. These are kept within separate categories of achievements. These competitions cover prints, portraits, and digitally projected images. With the increase in digital photography we have increased our competitions in this category and they now include open, mono and creative. The entries are judged by suitably qualified judges and the marks count towards winning an end of season trophy. Each fully 'paid-up' member receives a Rule Book outlining the different competitions and trophies that are awarded at the end of each season at our Annual Dinner and Awards Night.

Battles (friendly rivalry!) with other local clubs are often held as it is good to see other peoples work, and again discuss various aspects of photography, as well as making new friends.

Practical Evenings

In the church hall at the rear of the church, six additional evenings per season are arranged where members can practice with the clubs studio lighting equipment either with models or still life/table top.

It is also an ideal opportunity for new members to get to know the other members and obtain practical "hands on experience" where they can also bring along their prints for discussion and advice in this informal and friendly atmosphere. There is an additional charge of £1 for this evening to pay for the hall.
