Entering Digital Image competitions
Preparing your Digital Image
1. Make a folder for your digital competition entries.
2. In Photoshop 7 upwards (also Elements 3.0 upwards) when all adjustments have been made to your image...
- Go to 'Image' then 'Image Size'
- Tick 'Constrain Proportions'
- Set Resolution box to 72
- Set width box to 1620 pixels maximum and set height box to 1080 pixels maximum
- Click OK
3. Go to 'File and then 'Save As'.
4. Select where you are going to save your image to in the top box.
5. In the file name box put your title in capitals and name in lower case.
e.g. WINDMILL by Michael Chalk
IMPORTANT – our software program only recognises titles in this format: Capitals for title, lower case for by -line. If your name is in capitals or the word 'by', then these will be included in the title so everyone will know whose image it is before they should!
6. Ensure jpg appears in the Format box.
7. Now click the SAVE box. A new box comes up called JPEG options. Move the slider so that the kb number changes at the bottom to around 350 KB up to 1.5 MB max. Now click OK.
To Enter
- If you are on the Internet the easiest method to enter your images is to use the upload form found on our website. Ask the Digital Competition Secretary to email you the link, for security reasons we cannot publish it here. Just enter your title in the box, browse for your name in the dropdown of all the club members and enter it, enter the category you want and the competition number you want, then browse for your image and click 'Submit'. Repeat this procedure if you are entering different categories. The number you can enter is in the rule book which you should all have a copy of.
- Copy image to pen drive (dongle) and bring to meeting on submission date - see programme
- Email to competitions@folkestonecameraclub.co.uk
